Ostara and The Turning of the Wheel, Spring Equinox is Here.
Ostara & the Turning of the Wheel: A Conversation with the Season
Do you feel it? That quiet hum beneath the surface, the way the earth stretches and breathes, waking up from its long slumber? Ostara is here—the Spring Equinox—a day of balance, renewal, and the soft promise of what’s to come. I always find myself feeling a little lighter around this time, like something deep inside me remembers the rhythm of the earth and starts moving with it again.
The Wheel turns, just as it always does, bringing us back to this moment where light and dark meet as equals, a brief pause before the scales tip toward warmth, growth, and longer days. There’s something sacred in this threshold, a space between seasons where we get to stand still, take a deep breath, and choose how we want to step forward.
Ostara has always felt like an invitation—one whispered on the wind, carried in the scent of damp earth and early blooms. It’s a call to awaken, not in a rushed or urgent way, but in a way that feels natural, like stretching toward the sun after a long rest. Nature doesn’t force itself into bloom; it unfolds, slowly, intentionally, and in perfect time. And maybe that’s the lesson we need most right now.
Living in the Energy of Ostara
So how do we honor this turning of the wheel, not just in ritual, but in the way we live?
1. Plant Seeds—Literally & Figuratively
Ostara is the season of beginnings, and whether it’s actual seeds in the soil or intentions in our hearts, this is the time to plant with purpose. What do you want to grow in the coming months? What small, tender thing needs your care and patience? This is the season of possibility, where dreams meet the dirt and start to take form.
2. Find Balance in Your Own Life
Just as day and night stand in equal measure on the equinox, we are reminded to seek our own balance. Not in a forced, “perfect harmony” kind of way, but in a way that honors the natural ebb and flow of things. Where are you out of alignment? Where can you bring more ease, more grace, more presence into your days?
3. Welcome the Light
Spring is the return of the sun, the slow unfurling of warmth, the lifting of what’s been heavy. What parts of yourself are ready to step out of the shadows? This is the time for emergence, for peeling back the layers and allowing yourself to be seen—by yourself, by others, by the world.
4. Honor the Wild & the Tame
Ostara holds both—the gentle budding of new life and the wild, uncontainable energy of spring’s arrival. It is the maiden running barefoot through fields, the rabbit darting through the underbrush, the slow, steady rise of sap in the trees. How can you embody both? Can you be soft and untamed, intentional and free? This season says yes, you can.
5. Create a Sacred Pause
It’s easy to rush through the transitions, to jump ahead to the next thing without fully experiencing where we are. But this moment—the space between winter’s end and spring’s beginning—is worth honoring. Whether it’s through ritual, journaling, sitting in the sun with a cup of tea, or simply noticing the small shifts around you, take a moment to truly be in this season.
Ostara is a time of magic, of renewal, of remembering that life is cyclical, and that we are part of it all—the stillness, the movement, the dark, the light. It is the soft awakening of things long dormant, the whisper that says, it’s time.
And so, we step forward.
Happy Ostara, beautiful soul. May this season bring you all the balance, beauty, and beginnings you need.
Big Love Always in All The Ways,
